A 1987 graduate of Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic, Dr. Messina
was the recipient of the B.J. Palmer Clinical Excellence Award. She is a
member of the Garden State Chiropractic Society. In 1990, she was honored as
the Sherman College Chiropractic Career Advisor of the Year (along with Dr.
Sasso) for her efforts in establishing a pre-chiropractic curriculum at
Ocean County College, Toms River, NJ. Since 1991, she has been serving as a
member of the Board of Directors of the Garden State Chiropractic Society
and was elected vice-president in June 1996.She was then elected president
in June 1998 and again in June 2002. Dr. Messina is the first woman to serve
as president of the GSCS since it's inception.
She has been recognized as an Outstanding Young Women in America and a
member of the Distinguished Board of Regents of Sherman College. In 1994,
1999, 2000 and 2004, she was honored as GSCS "Chiropractor of the Year".
She is the only female chiropractor in the state of NJ to receive this honor
from the GSCS and the only individual to be honored four times. She was the
recipient of the 1993 "Distinguished Service Award" and honored as
"Board Member of the Year" in 1996 by the Garden State Chiropractic
Society. In 2000, she was the first woman to be elected a Fellow in the
College of Straight Chiropractic (FCSC). She was also the managing editor of
the FSCO INSIDER, a bi-monthly national publication from 1995 to
2002. She also holds a bachelor of science degree from Seton Hall
University.
